About Us

How SMI was founded

Koret Tower Strategic Marketing International was founded in 1997 by James E. Frier while he was a student in the MBA program at the University of San Francisco. SMI was conceived and developed in response to a semester project that was assigned as part of the Small Business Management class there. Originally planned as a retail mail order company, SMI has modernized its business plan to include that of importing, exporting and international sales.

SMI's Core Specialization

Tools SMI specializes in automotive tools and accessories since auto mechanics has been Mr. Frier's hobby for over thirty years. As a young man, James helped his father maintain the family automobiles. It was then that he developed a love for automobiles and acquired an understanding of automotive tools and repair equipment. He also developed an appreciation for quality tools and believes, as his father Robert used to say, "With the right tools, you can do anything."

SMI Introduces New Product Line

 SMI begins wholesale sales of new line of mini FM radio receivers. The new line, model FMS-1, is used at international conference venues that require simultaneous language interpretation services.
